"IN THE LINES" Set to release nationally on October 4th

It takes a lot of creativity and boatload of keen musical talent to make angular music sound as intense and fascinating as Austin’s America Is Waiting. Tightly wound around angry guitars and a fierce rhythm section, these four upstarts have been staging an uprising since 2001 and they’re ready to make it happen with the release of their debut EP In The Lines on October 4, 2005 on Wrong Records.

Eyes have been focused on America Is Waiting for a few years now… The band has been nurturing a formidable groundswell in their native Southwest, as well as touring nationally with Muse, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, and Hell Is For Heroes. Reviews of both their indie release and their live shows have been nothing but phenomenal and, now that they’re ready to tackle the rest of the country, they have their musical bulldozer pointed directly at the tired and static music world.

Inspired by the likes of Shellac, The Jesus Lizard, Nirvana, and the Melvins, America Is Waiting knows how to take a riff, turn it upside down, and make it sound wholly and completely new. Tracks like “Sympathy For Rome” blister through yelps and searing guitars like a wounded but rabid At The Drive-In attacking a prone Fugazi. The chaotic post-punk glimmer of “Nothing Justifies” vibrates seductively against your belly like a jackhammer swathed in gauze, while the hypnotic “The Virus Is Airborne” meanders through a minefield, littered with moody Joy Division-esque drums and hushed tones that are just waiting to explode.

America Is Waiting isn’t a band for the timid and In The Lines isn’t a record for the weak. But if they have their way, America Is Waiting will have the world anticipating their full-on, post-punk take over.

In The Lines was produced, engineered, and mixed by John Congleton (of the infamous Kill Rock Stars band The Paper Chase) and will be released nationally on October 4, 2005 on Wrong Records.
